Support Our School Fundraiser: Will You Answer The Call?

In the aftermath of October 7th, we have demonstrated that our community, in Israel and across the world, is strong, that we are resilient and united. With the help of G-d and the unity of the Jewish people, we will become stronger than ever. 

A school like Irvine Hebrew Day School, with meaningful, Torah-based learning, with programs that inculcate a love of Zion and a love of one’s fellow Jews, is more important than ever. The youth in our community need to be knowledgeable, they need to be engaged – they need to be enthusiastic and proud. They need to become leaders. 

After thirty-five years in Jewish education, I am absolutely convinced that it will be Day School graduates who will become those leaders.  This school, with a profound mission and a reach to the broadest spectrum of our community, is essential – to our students’ lives, and to the life of the community itself. 

Tuition covers about half of our expenses; the remainder is made up of generous donations from our Board, from supporters in the community and from our parents. Every successful independent school survives - and thrives - because of the generosity of its parent body. 

As we all do what we can to provide Israel with what it needs, we simply must do the same here. I wrote earlier that we are the recipients of an extraordinary matching grant, which presents us with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Mr. Allen Alevy of Long Beach will provide a dollar-for-dollar match for every dollar raised in this End of Year campaign. If you pledge $250, that's now $500. For someone who can commit $1,000 to the school - that's now $2,000. We have a commitment from Mr. Alevy's family to match up to $100,000 - a profoundly generous offer and opportunity - and a challenge to all of us. We need to see those contributions come into the school by the end of the calendar year. 

Our commitment is to do right by every dollar raised - to provide your children with an excellent education and with a love of Zion and the Jewish People. But we cannot do it by ourselves. We need you.
